This commitment aligned naturally with the spirit of the European Mobility Week — held every year in mid-September — the European Commission’s flagship campaign promoting sustainable urban mobility and encouraging cleaner, smarter ways to move.
Drawing inspiration from this initiative, we launched our own internal StepUp Challenge: a way to encourage Jakalers to walk more, reflect on their daily mobility habits, and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
The StepUp Challenge: A Global Effort for Good
The StepUp Challenge brought Jakalers from all over the world together in a fun, community-driven, and eco-conscious initiative.
Everyone was randomly assigned to one of four global teams, with one simple mission: walk as many steps as possible during the week.
Each step represented not only personal well-being, but also a collective contribution to sustainability. The more we walked, the more we gave back.
To celebrate this shared commitment, the Sustainability team supported CO₂e compensation projects linked to the challenge’s overall results.
The winning team — Mont Blanc — not only achieved the highest average steps per participant, but also had the opportunity to select which environmental project to support. Their choice: Rimba Raya – Central Kalimantan Peatlands in Indonesia, a vital initiative dedicated to protecting peatlands, forests, and endangered species.
Meet the StepUp Champion
We caught up with Edvarts, our top walker from the Mont Blanc team, who averaged an incredible 29,941 steps per day — that’s around 21.9 km daily!
