Since its launch, the Women in Drupal Award has recognised women making a difference across the Drupal ecosystem—from developers and designers to strategists, marketers, community organisers, founders, recruiters, and advocates.
Over the past four years, we’ve had the privilege of hearing inspiring stories of leadership, innovation, mentorship, and contribution from across our global community.
As the award enters its fifth year, we’re introducing a new approach.
One Award, Countless Contributions
In previous years, nominations were organised into three categories: Define, Build, and Scale. These categories helped highlight the many ways women contribute to Drupal, from creating strategy and vision, to building exceptional digital experiences, to growing organisations and communities.
But as the award has evolved, we’ve seen time and time again that many nominees don’t fit neatly into a single category.
The developer who mentors the next generation of contributors. The community organiser who advocates for inclusion. The strategist who helps organisations unlock the full potential of Drupal. The marketer who champions open source and grows awareness of the platform.
Their impact often spans multiple disciplines, roles, and achievements.
That’s why, for 2026, the Women in Drupal Award will move to a single award that celebrates overall contribution and impact.
Recognising the Women Shaping Drupal
The Women in Drupal Award is open to women from across the Drupal community, regardless of role, experience level, or area of expertise.
We welcome nominations for women who:
- Build and contribute to Drupal projects
- Lead teams and organisations
- Design exceptional digital experiences
- Drive innovation and strategy
- Support and mentor others
- Grow and strengthen the Drupal community
- Advocate for inclusion and diversity
- Champion open source and collaboration
These examples are not exhaustive. What matters most is the impact someone has made on the people, projects, and communities around them.
