JAKALA embraces Women’s Empowerment Principles

From HR policies for parenthood support, to the implementation of a Language Manifesto: JAKALA reinforces its dedication to promoting inclusion and diversity

JAKALA proudly announces its recent endorsement of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), an initiative by the United Nations aimed at promoting gender equality within organizations. This significant step underscores JAKALA's dedication to recognizing the individuality of all its people, in alignment with the principles of fairness and respect that define its corporate ethos. Presently, the adherence to the WEPs is focused on the Italian headquarters. However, the company is committed to extending these principles globally, across all its locations.

Global data from JAKALA for the year 2022, prior to the recent acquisition of FFW, reveals a company population comprising 44.77% women and 55.23% men. Specifically concerning JAKALA S.p.A. SB, in 2023, the proportion of women in managerial roles surged to 29%, up from the 25% reported in 2022. This data underscores JAKALA's progression towards gender parity, as well as the augmentation of female presence in leadership positions.

The adherence to the WEPs strengthens the path that JAKALA has already taken, emphasizing equitable treatment, prioritizing the health and safety of all employees, and providing ongoing opportunities for training and professional growth.

Stefano Pedron, Global CEO of JAKALA, underscores the necessity of collaborative efforts to realize genuine gender equality, not only within the workplace but also in everyday life.

At JAKALA, we advocate for the advancement of gender equality and the empowerment of women. We have embraced the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles as foundational pillars guiding our corporate culture. Through our initiatives, we translate these principles into tangible results. From HR policies that support parenthood to the adoption of a Language Manifesto and investments in digital and media training, we are cultivating an environment where every individual is afforded equal opportunities for personal and professional advancement. Aligning with organizations that champion gender equality transcends mere aspiration; it embodies a responsibility that we fully embrace. By adhering to the WEPs, we contribute to both the prosperity of our company and the advancement of society, thus shaping a future that is more inclusive and equitable for all

JAKALA has implemented various initiatives to advance gender equality across all levels.

Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) no. 5 (Gender Equality) and no. 10 (Reduced Inequalities)
In 2023, JAKALA engaged in the UN Global Compact's "Target Gender Equality" initiative, a nine-month program dedicated to fostering gender equality in the workplace. The adherence to the WEPs signifies an additional step forward, underscoring JAKALA's tangible support for women's empowerment.

Certified commitment to equal opportunities and diversity
JAKALA S.p.A. SB and JAKALA Civitas S.p.A. certify their Human Resources Management System according to ISO 30415:2021, advocating for diversity and inclusion. Additionally, JAKALA Civitas S.p.A. certifies its gender equality management system according to UNI/PdR 125:2022. This includes policies and practices aimed at guaranteeing equal opportunities and fair treatment, regardless of gender. Finally, within JAKALA, a Gender Equality Guidance Committee has been established, dedicated to breaking down barriers to equity.

Supporting flexibility and work-life balance
JAKALA is committed to safeguarding the personal and family needs of its employees through innovative policies such as hybrid work models and flexible hours, with the possibility for parents with young children to work from home for a greater number of days than established for the company's general population. Notably, JAKALA takes into careful consideration the needs of parents when crafting travel policies, limiting the duration of business trips to assist employees with familial obligations. From 2023, JAKALA also offers a unique opportunity to parents with children aged 5 to 19: the participation in one of the Summer Camp programs organized by H-FARM, which offer children a stimulating experience, thus providing an alternative "vacation" that also includes moments of growth for the youngest.

Language Manifesto, Internal Awareness, and Special Projects
JAKALA has invested in an internal awareness program, promoting its Language Manifesto. This is a set of guidelines describing how language should be used within the company to create a respectful and inclusive environment, by eliminating potentially discriminatory or exclusionary words and expressions. Moreover, JAKALA actively supports social initiatives, including funding programs aimed at developing digital skills among young people. These projects not only contribute to reducing gender disparities and increasing youth employment, but also advance gender equality and social well-being.
